We all get a little warm in our hearts when we think of winter, don't we? Yes, it's that time of the year, finally!

There is something about listening to music in winters, isn't it? And when it comes to music, some tracks have just the right amount of winter and chill vibe to them!

So, let's celebrate the advent of Jack Frost with a new and updated playlist to really feel the winter magic, shall we? Here are some songs you might want to check out this winter season -

1) Dillikisardi by KK and Shweta Shetty from the movie Zameen (2003) –

This one is a personal favourite. 2000s music lovers would remember this throbbing chartbuster starring Amrita Arora and Eijaz Khan which took the nation by storm back in the day. Moreover, KK's seductive voice singing "pyar tera dillikisardi" coupled with Shweta Shetty's ferocious as ever voice makes the song a hot winter go-to song.Do pay close attention to its ingenious lyrics! That's why it tops the list.

"Chahatkiaagjala le
Kambalmeinmujhechhupa le"

2) California Dreamin' by The Mamas and the Papas (1965)

"All the leaves are brown and the sky is grey
I've been for a walk on a winters day
I'd be save and warm if I was in L.A.
California dreaming on such a winters day"

This is a song that can be found in your parents old classic collection. The song is #89 in Rolling Stone's list of 500 greatest songs of all time. As we can infer from the lyrics, the leaves have turned brown and the sky is sun-less due to the winter season which makes the narrator desirous of being in the "warm" Los Angeles. The genre of the song is called sunshine pop (sunshine pop?). This song will surely take you back in time, enjoy!

3) Winter by The Rolling Stones (1973)

This feel-good song from one of the most famous rock n' roll bands of all times, i.e., The Rolling Stones, is a must on your winter playlist. Mick Jagger crooning about "a hard, hard winter" and hoping for "a long, hot summer" renders an atmosphere of yearning, to be in California during Christmas time. There surely is a lot more longing in the song,

"Sometimes I want to wrap my coat around you
Sometimes I want to wrap my coat around you
Sometimes I want to but I can't afford you"

A perfectsong to listen to while sitting in front of a fireplace and looking out the window, into the distance, utterly lost.

4) Zara Sa Jhoom Loon Main by Asha Bhonsle and Abhijeet Srivastava from DDLJ (1995)

All 90s kids, go yay! That's your jam. This list couldn't have been complete without a DDLJ song. In fact, any list cannot just NOT have at least one DDLJ song. Now, the song features in the list basically because of Kajol wearing that red one piece in the mountains. Yep, welcome to 90s Bollywood and its fascination with minimal clothes for heroines in the snow, because hey, who needs a frigging jacket, that too in the snow? "Areynare baba na"! Teehee.

5)Sarkayi Lo Khatiya by Kumar Sanu and Poornima from Raja Babu (1994)

Govinda fans, where you at? Anybody who doesn't know this quintessential Govinda song is probably living under a rock. So, Govinda and Karishma are trying to be cozy in a khatiyaon a cold winter night, bow chika wow wow! And of course, there's some eccentric dance moves. 'Nuff said.

With this, we finish our list of essential winter playlist. Enjoy listening!
