1. Make a Study Plan

Before you sit down to study, jot down a schedule. Decide which topics you want to cover and when. You will learn the importance of goal-setting this way, and also feel motivated when you stick to the plan. Preparing a study plan also boosts your confidence to achieve your goals.

2. Make Notes

This is the best way to study and memorize, when you hand-write the important topics, they encode better in your memory. Use different colours in your notes; this will impress the concepts in your visual memory better. Another useful and best study techniques for memorization is use of flashcards, sticky notes, and diagrams is also helpful as it prepares your sub-conscious mind to retain information for longer time.

3. Try Auditory Learning

One of the studying methods can be, you  record yourself reading a particular text and listen to the recording later. It's a great way to revise, and involves less staring at the paper and more time-saving. Put in your earphones during the bus ride to school and it's almost like you're in the classroom, listening to a lecture.

4. Come up with Innovative Ways to Memorize

Create anagrams for different points, or try associating the text with a personal story. If you want to remember a process, come up with motions for each step. These study tips and tricks help you memorize better!

5. Don't Procrastinate

There's so much to do but you're just not feeling it, we've all been there. Well, the hardest part is starting. So, when you have a long to-do list, just set a timer and get down to it. The worst way to feed your procrastination is studying in bed. Our brain has made a strong association between the bed and sleeping, so you'll only end up lazing around.

6. Take Small Breaks

We have established that delaying is not good. We must also recognise the importance of breaks. Taking a quick shower, drinking lots of water, and taking small breaks to have brunch or watch your favourite television program, will refresh your mind.

7. Have a Clean Study Space and Minimum Distractions

We know that it's hard to resist the temptation of asking your friends how much they have covered or knowing which memes are going viral. But we also know that it's best to have minimum distractions at your arm's length while studying. So, keep that phone aside! Have a minimalistic, clean, and quiet place space for studying where you can focus on the task at hand.

8. Verbal Summaries

After completing each topic, repeat it verbally. Talking to yourself might sound a bit crazy, but if you ask how to study effectively for exams then it is actually a very useful tip that boosts memory. Make verbal summaries whenever you can and before you know, you will remember it all! This is one of the best study hacks ever known.


9. Teach Someone

If you have understood a concept well enough, you should be able to explain it to someone simply. Thinking of an effective study tip how to study, we say teach others. When you teach that difficult topic to your friend, you are not only helping your friend but also simultaneously revising for yourself. Remember: if you can explain it to a layman, you have understood it yourself.

10. Practice and Revise

Practice makes perfect. If math seems hard, solve one problem every day. If history is a pain point, read one unit every day. And go through the past year papers and practice as many as you can.

11. Sleep Well:

An average of 6-8 hours of sleep is important. So, don't compromise on that. You have exercised your brain's muscles all day, now it needs some rest. Giving rest to your mind and body is essential for you to retain your studies for longer.

12. Don't be Afraid to Ask:

It's okay to make mistakes. And it's also okay to ask for help. Remember that, and don't hesitate to ask your teacher or tutor to clarify your doubts. Remember: the one who asks might be a fool for five minutes, but the one who doesn't is a fool for life!
