5 Reasons You Are Always Feeling Tired (And How to Fix That)

Do you often feel exhausted? Is being constantly tired becoming a second nature for you? Do you always blame your lack of sleep for your tiredness? Feeling tired on a regular basis is common and thankfully, you are not the only one who is going through this.

So, what exactly is the reason behind this sluggish and lethargic feeling? The truth is, there are many underlying reasons behind you feeling constantly exhausted even after taking a good night’s sleep. Let’s take a look at them and discuss how you can fix them -

Reason 1 – You Are Dehydrated

It has been proven by multiple studies that staying hydrated throughout the day prevents low energy levels and keep you active throughout the day. You will be surprised to know that even mild dehydration levels can cause significant energy loss. Lack of water in your body will lead to reduced blood volume and oxygen, thereby making you feel sluggish.

Fix It – Drink at least 8-10 glasses of water every day and make sure to replenish your body with essential fluids, juices and natural beverages without carbon or caffeine.

Reason 2 – You Are Stressed

If you are constantly finding yourself amidst personal and professional deadlines, commitments and chores, all that worrying can make you feel stressed and greatly impact your energy levels. As your body is in a constant rush, it leads to increased blood pressure and ultimately, more fatigue. People who think too much are more sleep deprived and over the time, this vicious circle becomes bigger and bigger.

Fix It–Start managing your time and resources to create the right work-life balances. From making a to-do list to avoiding constant distractions, you can include mediation and yoga in your daily routine to keep stress at bay.

Reason 3 – You Are Skipping The Gym

Our body muscles are meant for movement and there’s a reason why regular exercise makes your body more active and responsive. It might sound counterintuitive but people who work out regularly have boosted energy and motivation levels than people who can’t get off the couch. From a simple walk to an intensive gym session, perk up your exercise and feel a new vigour in life.

Fix It–Start by taking out 20 minutes from your time, if you feel de-motivated to hit the gym, pick up a Zumba fitness program to get yourself motivated to work out daily and beat the blues.

Reason 4 – You Are Lacking Nutrients

Nutrients like Iron, Magnesium and Vitamin D are essential for the overall well-being, happiness and energy levels of a person. For example - Anaemia is a potential cause of feeling lazy all day round and is a common problem with vegetarians and people with thyroid deficiency. Additionally, these minerals and vitamins affect how long you take to sleep, how is your quality of sleep and how effective your sleeping cycle is.

Fix It–Improve your diet by reducing your intake of processed and junk foods and increasing leafy vegetables, avocados, nutsand a serving of fruit on a daily basis.

Reason 5–You Are Not Sleeping Properly

Most of us are constantly hooked to our smartphones and computers and check social media, emails and stuff right before going to sleep. This is another reason why your sleep quality is suffering as late night technology simulation leads to increased brain activity and disturbs our neurotic sleep cycles, ultimately making you feel lethargic the next day.

Fix It – Take a break from endless screen scrolling while in bed and replace it with a hobby like reading a book or listening to music. Avoid junk sleep and prepare your sleeping pattern with a warm bath or an easy-going activity.

The sleep hours definitely count but your sleep quality, sleep patterns and lifestyle choices make a huge difference to your energy levels and enthusiasm for the next day.
